In the summer of 2004, Dr. Ed Spurka, Principal of Roswell High and then Athletic Director, Mike Power led the charge to be the first Fulton County High School to acquire artificial turf. By any measure, it has been an outstanding addition to Roswell High’s Athletic Facilities. The artificial surface was such a big hit the FCBE quickly included artificial turf as part of Ed Specs for all new High Schools to be built in Fulton County and a schedule was developed to provide turf to every existing high school in the FCSS at that time.
Roswell High School’s turf is entering it’s 13th season however it is to be replaced by FieldTurf’s state of the art ‘Revolution’ package. The turf is advertised as ‘Cool Turf’ with a 35% reduction in heat at the surface of the turf during the summer months.
The new turf will be replaced beginning June 10 and will be ready for the Hornets home scrimmage game vs. Langston Hughes on August 12 in Ray Manus Stadium.
