Multiple Teams · HORNET STING STUNS GRAYSON RAMS 30-26 in FINAL SECONDS.

Roswell High has been to the State Football Semi-Finals 4 other occasions in the school’s history with a perfect four for four advancing to the State Championship Game in 1956, 1968, 1970 and 2006.  Make that five for five.  On a night fraught with turnovers and uneven special teams play the Hornets Defensive and Offensive teams refused to lose.  With a 23 – 23 tie in the balance, Grayson advanced to what appeared to be a game winning field goal with 48 seconds remaining to take the lead 26 -23.  After  a pooch kick on the ensuing kickoff the Hornets were set up on their own 35 yard line with no timeouts and 41 seconds.  After Quintarrius Neely hit Kendrick Jackson with a perfect strike over the middle moving the ball to the Rams 35 yard line, the play of the game came next when A.J. Smith laid out for the game winning catch on a backside post with 10 seconds left.  With 2 seconds remaining after the Rams took the kickoff to nearly midfield, Max Boyd ended all of Grayson’s hopes with a bone jarring tackle.

The Hornets now advance to their 5th STATE Football Championship vs. the defending AAAAAA State Champion Colquitt County Packers.  The Game is to be held in the Georgia Dome on Saturday December 12 at 8pm.  The game will be televised on GPB-TV.
