The 2017 Roswell Hornet Football Program concluded their Spring Practice with a successful night vs. the host North Forsyth Raiders on Thursday May 18. After a brief rain and lightning delay the Varsity Hornets went into Halftime with a 14-0 lead. The 3rd quarter was earmarked for each Team’s JV players and the 4th quarter was an agreed upon untimed challenge of Situations e.g. 3rd and long, Red Zone and placing the ball on your own 1yd. line and attempting to get a 1st down. Punts and Kickoffs were allowed with no live tackling.
The Hornet Defense sporting it’s new 3 man front held the Raiders from Region 5AAAAAAA to zero points. Offensively Sr. QB Cordell Littlejohn showed flashes of athleticism and had a score from @ 25 yards out after being chased out of the pocket. Sr. RB Joseph Daniels had a nice TD run from @ 30 yards out to round out the scoring in the first half. Other Hornet Highlights included a 85 yard Interception Return by Jr. Corner Josh Reid and several nice catches by Sr. TE Tyneil Hopper.
The Hornets now look forward to a week off for Final Exams and then begin in earnest Summer Conditioning Workouts beginning Tuesday May 30.
